REGION 2 FALL ASSEMBLY
SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA
OCTOBER 21-23, 2011

Wow!  What a great weekend- service and fellowship.  The theme was  “UNITY IN REGION 2”.  This was the message throughout the Assembly involving 43 reps from 27 intergroups from our region including Hawaii and Mexico.

Elections for R2 Board positions were held.  Vice-Chairperson is Nancy G. Jensen.  Secretary is Linda McLaughlin and Events Coordinator is Cher Bateman.

Katie G., David, and Alice presented a workshop panel on the difficulties and solutions that they experienced in serving as an R2 Representative and a World Service Delegate.  Katie G. described her fears and her process of recovery used within these situations.  The wonderful message of all three reps was service helped them with abstinence and inspired them with a deeper commitment to service for  OA.

Some examples of Intergroup Concerns and Ask it Basket follow:

There is not enough literature for bulimia and anorexia.  One answer expressed was to order the anorexic and bulimic packet from World Service and to submit a proposal to WS for more literature on this subject.

The R2 Vice-Chair updates this list.

Can a group promote by-pass surgery?
This is in violation of Tradition 5

R2 PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE (my committee)
Our goal is to continue to increase effective communications between P. I. committee and intergroup P. I. chairs.
Committee members will contact Intergroups with specific script of questions.
Committee will stay in contact through conference calls.

Thank you for this service opportunity.  My recovery has been strengthened and it has been a pleasure to meet reps from all over our region.
